GrayBird AirSports
supports two flying clubs Dunnellon Sport Flyers and Florida AirSports Flying Club.
The Dunnellon
Sport Flyers is a United States Ultralight Association Florida chapter.
We meet at the airport on the second Saturday of each month at 10:00 am.
We are working on our club logo, newsletter and developing ideas for fly-in
activities and schedules.
The club consists
of a group of ultra light pilots and others just interested in recreational
flying. The goal of the club is to promote and provide the opportunity
of safe recreational flying. We are educating our club members with respect
to standard patterns and operational procedures when flying at airports.
We feel this will help to improve our pilot skills and enable us to develop
a better relationship with other pilots at the airport.
This will bring
greater awareness to the fact that we love to fly and want to do so in
the safest manner possible while being considerate of other forms of flying.
We figure what goes around comes around.
Our aircraft maybe
small and frail in comparison to others, but that doesn't detract from
the amount of enjoyment available.
Florida AirSports
Flying Club is a United States Hang Gliding Association Florida chapter.
We have meetings at the airport on the fourth Saturday of each month at
10:00 am.
The club is comprised
of hang glider pilots, paraglider pilots and other people interested in
the recreation of powerless flight. We are here to promote and provide
the opportunity to the safe continuation of our recreational flying activities.
Also to establish
lines of communication with other pilots flying in other forms of aircraft.
This will allow us to develop a greater understanding with the other pilots
at the airport, of our needs and flight capabilities. It's is handy that
the pilots of motorized aircraft realize that every landing is a dead-stick
landing for our unpowered soaring aircraft. We find it simpler to explain
our aircraft's capabilities to other pilots, while we are on the ground,
rather than wondering what they are going to do while we are on approach.
